Bio

Mark Kirton is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of International Relations, University of The West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, where he teaches graduate courses in the Global Studies programme. Born in Guyana, he is a graduate of the University of Guyana, Bachelor of Arts, (Pass with Distinction) and completed a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. He also holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A. He has co-edited (with Cedric Grant) the book Governance, Conflict Analysis and Conflict Resolution in 2007 and (with Marlon Anatol) published Selected Essays on contemporary Caribbean Issues: An International Relations Perspective in 2012. His current research interests include foreign policy making in Latin America and the Caribbean, citizen security in the hemisphere, contemporary regional integration initiatives.
